The DAF Club of America was founded in
1985 by Mr. Bill Radtke of Santa Rosa, California, and Kaz Wysocki of
Hackensack, New Jersey, in order to preserve and enjoy the Dutch DAF
cars.
All known owners were contacted in the United
States and Canada to compile a registry of the DAF cars. Many non-owners joined
the club because of their interest in the “CVT” transmission, which was unique
to the DAF. We currently have 30 listed members who are driving their cars or
are involved in restoration projects on various models.
The DAF Club of America has, in the past, held many “hands-on”
workshops. The first one was held in 1988. There were also workshops held in
1991 and 1994. All these workshops were conducted by our supporting member and
super DAF mechanic Matt Stapper from Waalre, Holland. Matt is also one of our
main parts suppliers in Europe. Hopefully, in the near future we will conduct
more workshops as many of our current members are in the process of major
restoration projects.
The future of the DAF Club of
America is in your hands. The year 2010 marked the 25th anniversary of this
club. We will strive very hard to build this organization to develop a strong
bond and enthusiasm which will carry us forward into the future.
